Everyone knows that there is no creature more persistent than a child trying to get what he or she wants.

For today’s episode, I share with you one of my most effective parenting strategies that can help with even the most demanding child.

And even if you don’t have kids, you can definitely apply this concept to your own life as an adult, as well.

As a professional home organizer, one of my most favorite topics to talk about on the show is clutter… what it is, where it comes from, and why we have such a hard time getting rid of it.

For today’s episode, I not only talk about the psychical clutter that tends to pile up in our homes, but I give you very specific ideas to help you free yourself from the mental clutter that naturally coincides with the physical clutter. And you’d be surprised at some of the unexpected places where that kind of clutter shows up!

The idea of gratitude seems fairly simple. Right?

“Be thankful for what you have.”

We should all feel grateful. Well, at least that's what we want to feel.

Unfortunately, gratitude can sometimes be very complicated. And the feeling of thankfulness doesn’t always come naturally to everyone.

On today’s episode of Life Made Simple, I explore a little bit of the science behind gratitude. And for those of you out there who might occasionally struggle with feeling grateful, I offer you a few ideas that might help.

During this time of year, the trees naturally know that it’s time to drop their leaves to make room for new ones in the spring.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we did the same thing? If we naturally knew how to let go of the old to make room for the new? On today’s episode of Life Made Simple, I give you my thoughts on how to do just that.

What do you surround yourself with?

Throughout your everyday life you are surrounded by things, people, and ideas. You see things and you hear things. And when you see and experience those things, they have some sort of an effect on you, whether you know it or not. Your brain is constantly absorbing the positive and negative energies that those things represent to you, which may be different for different people.

What matters is whether or not it is a positive or negative effect.

For today’s episode, I focus on information that we surround ourselves with. I also give you ideas on how to build better boundaries with sources of information that tend to pop up and steal your attention when you least expect it.

When I was a new mom, I was convinced that my child was going to eat anything I put in front of him. I was determined that he would never be a picky eater and would love eating vegetables. I loved healthy foods when I was a kid, so why wouldn't he?

Well, unfortunately, Levi has an aversion to most anything green. And he would easily eat cake and ice cream for every meal if I let him! So I've definitely had to learn how to get really strategic to insure he eats a well balanced diet.

For today's episode I wrap up our series all about healthy eating. After announcing the winners for our Clean Eating Magazine giveaway, I share with you some really great tried and true tips on how to get your child to eat healthy foods.

If you weren't one of our lucky winners, just click on the link below to get an exclusive coupon code to receive a one year subscription for only $10... that's 79% off the cover price!

After trying an extreme diet for many months, I learned there is sooooo much psychology behind food choices and nutrition.

While making those major changes, I also had to become more aware of my relationship with food... which can be pretty complicated at times. Can you relate?

For today's episode, I offer you some thoughts and a few simple tips that I've been implementing into my own life when it comes to meals and the foods I eat.

I also share with you some new habits and lifestyle changes that I'm trying to make that you can hopefully find some value in as well. Many of them have completely changed and simplified my relationship with food!

With big life changes and transitions, come big life lessons.

For the last six months, my family and I made some MAJOR changes in our diet. During this episode, I tell you all about that journey and all the random lessons I learned from it. It was actually very interesting how many of those lessons run parallel with other topics I often talk about on the show concerning organizing and simplifying your home and life.

My intention of this episode (and a few to follow) is to explore the mindsets behind healthy eating, as well as the habits and lifestyle changes that go along with it.

Please keep in mind, I am not a certified nutritionist, dietitian and I am for sure not a doctor. The information I share with you on this show is based off of my own personal experience and many years of research. So as you hear me share strategies and techniques that have worked for me, keep in mind that everyone is different... your experience and views may not be the same as mine, and that's of course, totally ok.

Last week, we decided to start our summer adventures a little early. We pulled our son out of school for a whirlwind road trip from Seattle, Washington to Austin, Texas. We drove 32 hours straight there with very few stops!

I know it may sound crazy (especially considering we even took our dog) but it was fun. And we survived. And in this episode I tell you all about it.

Now keep in mind, the ideas I share with you can be applied to ANY space in your life, particularly in your home. Not just your car. So, even if you aren't planning any road trips this year, you can still get a lot from this show.

Shopping and acquiring new things can be fun and VERY therapeutic.

But having too much stuff that you have to organize, manage, and store is NOT always fun.

What if we can somehow tap into the therapeutic aspects of letting go of things? What if we could get equal enjoyment from purging things as we do from buying them? Wouldn't that make simplifying and organizing a lot easier?

On today's show I revisit a unique perspective that can help you clear out the clutter in your home to reveal the simplified space hiding underneath.

Over the years, I've learned that simplifying your home isn't just about where you put things or what nifty little storage bins you should buy to put things in. There is actually soooo much more to it than that.

Organizing your home and simplifying your life has a lot to do with your mindsets, not just storage tips. Which is why, I always say that I specialize in the psychology behind home organizing.

For today's episode, I share with you a "mindset strategy" that I use for certain clients. And I even use it myself, at times... because it works.

Sometimes, while in the middle of a project, it's easy to get stuck. You lose steam. Or you get discouraged. Or you lose interest.

Then you stop. And then you never get around to finishing it.

It just happens.

And sometimes you don't finish what you started because it's no longer a priority, which is totally ok.

But, sometimes, you stop because something very specific is blocking you.

On today's episode, I talk about why it's important to figure out what your real roadblocks are so that you can finally push past them.
